HAGERTY’S HALL CAPITAL LANDED PPP LOAN TWO WEEKS AFTER CARES STIMULUS SIGNED

Hagerty, a Member of the White House COVID Task Force, secured a multi-million-dollar line of credit the same day his ally signed the CARES Act

NASHVILLE – U.S. Senate candidate Bill Hagerty, a member of the White House COVID Task Force, and his investment firm Hall Capital, did not experience any difficulty securing a PPP Loan as they received an infusion of $150,000 – $350,000 on April 10, exactly two weeks after the CARES Act was signed into law. Hagerty, who launched his political campaign on either July 12, 2019 – before resigning from his post as Ambassador to Japan – or September 10, 2019, rejoined Hall Capital as a candidate on November 5, 2019, and secured a multi-million-dollar line of credit that he’s using to fund his campaign on March 27, the same day the CARES Act became law. The line of credit, backed only by Hagerty’s personal portfolio, has been a point of contention in Tennessee’s rancorous U.S. Senate Republican primary

“Is Bill Hagerty’s ally signing the CARES Act what made Hagerty’s personal securities valuable enough to secure a multi-million-dollar line of credit from his friends at the bank?” asked Dave Hoffman, campaign manager for decorated combat veteran James Mackler’s U.S. Senate campaign. “While Bill Hagerty’s campaign is funded by sweetheart loans, corporate PACs, and Washington special interests, James’ effort is fueled by thousands of individual Tennesseans investing to elect a combat veteran who will do what’s right and stand up to any president when they’re wrong.”

“Bill Hagerty, a former U.S. ambassador to Japan who is now a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Tennessee, has secured campaign funds from a number of people and corporate entities connected to the White House economic recovery council — of which he’s a member,” according to a report in Salon. “Since September, the Hagerty campaign has pulled in $33,000 in campaign contributions from corporations and individuals on the task force. The campaign also took out a $2.5 million loan from Pinnacle Financial Partners on March 27, the same day that President Trump signed the $2.2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.”

Since launching his campaign at a closed rural hospital in McKenzie, Tennessee, James has earned support from the DSCC, Tennessee AFL-CIO, Tennessee Fire Fighters, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL, Vote Vets, Serve America, Let America Vote, End Citizens United, Giffords PAC, Gov. Phil Bredesen, Minority Leader Karen Camper, and thousands of Tennesseans in all 95 counties

James Mackler joined the U.S. Army after 9/11 to do more and serve in a time of crisis, serving in Iraq as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot as a Screaming Eagle in the 101st Airborne Division. He later protected sexual assault survivors and prosecuted criminals as a U.S. Army JAG attorney. James is running for U.S. Senate for the same reasons he joined the army — to do more and serve all Tennesseans in a time of crisis.
